Rumor mill: Intel’s Panther Lake processors for laptops are expected to launch in late 2025, and the latest leak suggests that they could be a major upgrade over Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake. The information seemingly reveals the core counts of Panther Lake-U (low-power) and H series (high-performance) processors and includes a die configuration image that shows up to 5 tiles.
Panther Lake CPUs will reportedly come in two flavors: H-series for high-end, high-performance laptops, and U-series for more affordable and power-efficient devices. They will be the successors to the Arrow Lake-H and Arrow Lake-U mobile CPUs that are expected to launch in early 2025.
According to an X post by tipster @jaykihn0, the Panther Lake-H processors will come in two configurations. Both will have four P-Cores based on the Cougar Cove architecture, eight E-Cores based on the Darkmont architecture, and four additional LP-E cores, but the difference will be in the number of iGPU cores.

While the first die is said to include 12 Xe3 graphics cores, the second will reportedly offer only four. In both cases, the iGPU will be based on the “Celestial” graphics architecture that will be a follow-up to the Battlemage iGPU cores found in the Lunar Lake chips. The leak also suggests that the Panther Lake-H SKUs will have a 25W PL1 TDP and a 45W PL2 rating.
Moving on to the Panther Lake-U chips, these are designed for thin and light laptops where power efficiency matters more than raw performance. The processors are tipped to have the same four Cougar Cove-based P-Cores and four LP-E cores as PTL-H, while missing out on the eight E-Cores. If the leak is accurate, PTL-U could have 8 cores and 8 threads in all, as opposed to the 16-core Panther Lake-H models. The iGPU in the U-series chips will include four Xe3 cores, while their PL1 TDP is expected to be around the 15W mark.
It is worth noting here that according to VideoCardz, another reliable tipster, @OneRaichu, claimed that the supposed PTL-H dies with 12 Xe cores will actually be marketed as Panther Lake-P and not Panther Lake-H. There’s no way to confirm either rumor at this point in time, so take them with a pinch of salt for now.
